Sports… the Philadelphia way

The Good: A HUGE COME FROM BEHIND WIN. It doesn’t get much “gooder” then that. Rollins is unbelievable at coming up with the big hit. If the Phillies make the playoffs (more importantly, over David Wright and the Mets), Rollins has to get the MVP. And maybe even a coach of the year award for Manuel. I don’t know what’s more impressive about Werth. The numbers that he is putting up, or that fact that it is coming at a consistent basis. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH THIS BULLPEN!?!? How are they able to throw up all the zeroes, over 7.0 innings!

The Bad: Well I have to admit Lohse lasting 2.0 innings didn’t exactly bring a smile to my face. But I don’t care how the Phillies get the wins, I just want more of them. And I’m really starting to worry about Myers and his arm. He’s new to this world of pitching the later half of the game. Using him every game may get them into the playoffs. But it could also lead to arm problems that might cost the Phillies from using their new closer in future seasons.

We’re in a pennant race. I’ve yelled that so much in my apartment the last week that I have lost my voice. But I’m gonna keep yelling it. This team is unbelievable. I don’t understand how they are doing it, I think it all has to do with the tarp fiasco in the middle of the season. The baseball gods are letting everything go our way. Or this is just another Philadelphia season and everyone is going to spend October crying in their Phillies jerseys alone in their houses. All I know is that I’m young and am still optimistic about this team.

Adam Eaton. He’s starting Friday. Enough said.

Last start (9/16): ND / 4.2 / 4 ER / 7 H / 2 BB / 1 SO / New York

Shawn Hill takes the mound Friday with a 4-4 record and a 3.01 ERA. He’s a sinkerball pitcher who has had success against righties who are only batting .194. His trouble comes from lefties who are batting .264 and he tends to have control problems (allowing 4 in his last start). He’s also had a history of elbow problems. This year alone he’s missed 83 games on the DL.

Last start (9/16): L / 5.0 / 3 ER / 5 / 4 BB / 2 SO / Atlanta

Last words . . . Ed Wade in Houston. Good luck Houston.
