Phillies own the Mets.

The Good: Do I really have to say anything? I was almost in tears after Rollins hit that triple over Beltran. Whenever they showed the Mets fans standing up and clapping when there were 2 outs in an inning or 2 strikes to a batter, I couldn’t help but think that they were all going to be disappointed by the end of the game. I love watching these two teams play because of the way they run the bases. Even when its the Mets getting a stolen base, speed is such an exciting part of this game. I love the way they go back and forth with their speed. And who the hell does this Phillies bullpen think they are throwing up all these shutout innings. It’s like they forgot that they suck. One more good thing (it’s amazing how it’s so easy to think of positives after a Phillies win). You can tell that the Phillies are in the Met’s head because they’re getting so frustrated that one gets thrown out every game.
The Bad: So apparantly this is the Pedro Martinez that has 3 Cy Young’s. I’m just glad that he came back in September, because the Mets could be even farther ahead in the division. I’m not saying that because I think that the Phillies can still win the division. I just really hate them and am glad that Pedro wasn’t giving them wins all season long. And it’s very easy to overlook Werth’s 0-4 for 3 strikeouts because of his current hot streak against opposing pitchers and the fact that the Phillies won.
I watched this entire game from the first pitch to the middle of the 8th. Then I had to go to 4:30 mass. I thought about skipping so I could watch the rest of the game. But I knew that if stayed home to watch, the Phillies would’ve lost. And it would be because God wanted to spite me. I am ecstatic that they won. And I have to admit that even in the 8th inning I knew they could still win, but only because it was the Mets. Had they been playing the Nationals or the Cardinals (like they are going to), the Phillies would’ve simply rolled over died. I don’t understand why this is, but the Phillies must simply hate the Mets. And will do everything humanly possible to beat them. What makes it even better is the fact that just about every win was a comeback victory. For the first time in my life, I wish I had a friend that was a Mets fan. Solely for the reason of rubbing it in his face.
Every Philadelphian’s very starter takes the mound Sunday. What is left to be said about Adam Eaton? He’s been a complete and utter disappointment. In order for me to even possibly think about not hating him, he’d have to throw 2 no-hitters and a perfect game. However, for some unexplainable reason, he’s had success against the Mets. He’s 2-0 in 3 starts with an ERA of 2.89 in 18.2 innings. But it doesn’t matter what Eaton does, because the Phillies have shown that they can come back from any deficit.
Last start (9/11): L / 5.0 / 4 ER / 6 H / 2 BB / 6 SO / Colorado
Oliver Perez comes into Sunday’s start with a 2-start winning streak. While his numbers look pretty good for a starting pitcher, none of that really comes into play. Perez is a very inconsistent pitcher who often has trouble finding his proper arm slot, and each start is a new adventure. If he finds it, he can easily win using his mid-90 fastball and nasty slider. But inability to find that arm slot is what usually causes him to only go 5.0 innings and “walk” into trouble. In his 2 starts against the Phillies this year, all you need to know is that he’s only lasted a total of 8.2 innings.
Last start (9/10): W / 7.0 / 2 ER / 5 H / 2 BB / 7 SO / Atlanta
Last words . . . I haven’t stopped smiling all day.
