Sports… the Philadelphia way

The “Real Deal.”

The Good: Rollins if officially out of his slump that was plaguing him and the team a week ago. Dobbs quietly on his way to a great year. Barajas with a pinch-hit single, WAHOO! Francisco Rosario could be a very good pitcher in the not so distant future.

The Bad: When your starter goes 0+ innings, chances are it’s not going to be a fun night. I’ve come to grips with Howard striking out. But it seems that he strikes out in his first at-bat every single game. As long as he continues to produce it’s no big deal, I just thought that it was odd. Utley is not allowed to have an bad game, 0-for-5 is unacceptable.

That was just an ugly game. But I have to admit that I was expecting this to happen eventually. The Phillies have been running on all engines. Playing with adrenaline and emotion in just about every game. And that’s going to take a toll on a player/team. But the problem is that the Phillies dug themselves into a hole earlier in the year. Maybe if they had played a little better ball in April every game wouldn’t have the atmosphere of a playoff game. Also, the players are just physically tired from having to play every game. With all the injuries, it’s kept many of the same players going out and playing everyday. I’m not here trying to make excuses for this team. I just see them having to overcome possibly too many obstacles. The only way they’re going to be able to turn this into an extended season is if Uncle Charlie can use his magic to keep this players fighting until the very end.

Well if you can’t have Cole Hamels pitching, the next best thing is . . . Adam Eaton? When you look at the numbers for Eaton’s last start, they look like an OK game. But compared to his usual numbers, it looks like a fantastic game. He’s just a bad pitcher. I don’t know how a guy like him can sneak into the Majors. Besides a few select starts, Eaton has had a terrible year. But right now his goal should be to pitch six innings as the bullpen will need a rest after Durbin’s weak outing. However six innings may be difficult as he has only gone that far in one of his last seven starts.

Last start (8/28): ND / 5.2 / 2 ER / 5 H / 2 BB / 1 SO / New York

I hate Scott Olsen more then any other player in the Majors. Besides the fact that he “hates the Phillies” for no good reason and is an arrogant punk; earlier in the year he had gotten into a fight with police officers. That pretty much sums up this scmbag. I would love nothing more for the Phillies to explode with offense and possibly hit a couple line drives up the middle and off his head.

Last start (8/27): L / 4.0 / 6 ER / 11H / 2 BB / 4 SO / Atlanta

Last words . . . at least the Phillies weren’t no-hit.
