It just keeps getting worse.
The Good: Milton Bradley gets a fastball inside for the first pitch he sees. It’s nice to see that his antics from Friday’s game did not go unnoticed.
The Bad: I can’t believe they threw at Ruiz. What happened yesterday is in the past. The Padres should be mature enough to move on. Don’t you just love double standards? I don’t know who’s worse right now, Moyer or Gordon. All I know is that I’m sick of these old guys stinking up the place.
So how do we as Phillies fan feel about Pat Burrell? Do we still hate him? I personally never really hated him. At times he does suck and I will very openly point that out, but according to who you ask, he’s a good teammate. I often hear my dad complain about him and then he’ll bring up his favorite Pat Burrell story. Thompson had offered advice to Burrell, Burrell had said that he should save it for someone who needs it. But according to his teammates, Burrell is the hardest worker on the team and is often the first one to show up at the ball park to work on his hitting. While in the field his speed shows by making easy plays look hard. But does at times have an above-average arm. I’d like to see him keep starting in left field, I just wish he would agree to a pay cut.
Good news for the bullpen because Kendrick is starting Sunday which means they don’t have to worry about coming into the game until the 7th inning (*knock on wood*). Even better news is that he’s pitching at Citizens Bank Park, where his numbers are 5-0 with an 3.46 ERA. He’s coming off a decent start in which he went 6.2 innings allowing four runs. A pitcher can give up a few extra runs and get away with it when they handle the bat as well as Kendrick did: 1 for 1 with 2 sacrifices. With Chris Young being on the DL (and not helping my bid to make the playoffs with my fantasy league), Tim Stauffer will make the start. This is only Stauffer’s 2nd start this year, and 18th in his career so there isn’t much to go on. One stat that stands out is his four hits allowed, with three of them being homeruns.
Last start (July 29th): ND / 3.2 / 7 ER / 4 H / 3 BB / 3 SO / Houston
Last words . . . Milton Bradley is almost as obnoxious as Terrell Owens.
