Ruiz is my hero.
The Good: The season is almost over. Carlos Ruiz has some toughness, too bad it hurt them.
The Bad: This team really sucks. Jamie Moyer needs to just retire already.
Who cares? Anyone? Who cares anymore? Not the Phillies I can tell you that. Do they care that I spend all day Friday at work excited to get home and watch the Phillies fight for their wildcard spot? Do they care that I spend my Friday night sitting in my basement watching a TV because I have an obession? As I take a break from writing this blog and look around my basement, I realize that I’m quite pathetic. My dad and I have accumulated turf, dirt, a piece of the wall, and seats from the Vet. There’s autograph balls from Wayne Gomes, Mark Leiter, Bruce Chen, and Omar Daal. There’s bobble-heads from Pat Burrell to Jim Thome. And what does it get me: high blood pressure and a short temper.
Like an idiot I wear my Phillies hat every time I leave my house. Half of my wardrobe consists of something with the word Phillies on it. I turn on the radio to listen to the game even when I go out to dinner with a lady friend, then talk about the Phillies when I’m at the restaurant with her. And why do I do it? Is it because I’m so proud of being a fan of the best team in baseball? Or is it because I actually think that one year, that might stop sucking long enough to make a playoff berth?
Tonight’s game was a complete joke. Everyone knew that this home stand was going to make or break their chances of a playoff appearance. One would think that is enough to fire them up to do some damage. But what do they do, lose two out of three to the Dodgers. But I’m ok with that, there’s still seven games left in this home stand, they can still turn it into a successful one. Maybe they just need something to spark a fire. If benches clearing argument doesn’t do it, nothing will. It’s hard to blame the players for not having any firey emotion after the second base collision because by the time they got to bat, “old man Moyer” and blown the game wide open. Then we get to see this wonderful bullpen come in and quite literally help the team roll over and die.
Is it time yet fans? For those of us stupid enough not to give up when Utley went down, is this it? For those of us dedicated enough to keep watching even after Hamels went down, is your dedication wavering yet? What is it going to take? If you’re anything like me, it’s going to take the arrival of September 30th before all hope is lost. I know this team sucks. I’ve been quite confident for quite some time now that the Phillies are not making the playoffs. But I’m going to keep watching every game I can because I am a Philadelphia fan, and am proud of it. Just don’t tell anyone
Phillies send to the mound Saturday Kyle Lohse. His last start would have been excellent had he stopped pitching after the sixth inning. However, with control of his pitches and looking dominant, he stayed in to give up four runs and the game in the seventh. He hasn’t done anything spectacular since coming over from the Reds but it doesn’t really matter what the starting pitcher does or even who he is unless he plans on pitching eight innings and letting Myers close it out. Clay Hensley comes into his start with a 2-3 record and a 6.70 ERA. Being only his third start since May 2nd, Hensley is nothing special. With batters hitting around .300 and with more walks then strikeouts, one can only hope that the Phillies take their heads out of their asses and start playing some real baseball.
Last start: W / 5.0 / 6 ER / 6 H / 4 BB / 2 SO / Colorado
Last words . . . Marcus Giles is a pansy.

The Phillies are a joke…an unfunny one at that.
