Phillies bang thier way out of Chicago
The Good: PAT THE BAT!!! I don’t care if people are tired of hearing me talk about how much I love him. For someone who had to take some much crap from every sports analyst and Philadelphia fan (including me), he well deserves all this praise. Someone had to step up with the absence of Utley and many of us thought it would be Howard. It’s nice to have Burrell pick up the pace.
The Bad: People being hurt.
Honestly, what the hell is going on? When Lohse left after the first inning with a ball lodged in his arm, I came quite close to literally falling out of my chair. The worst part about the majority of the injuries is that they are not really the fault of the injured individual. Utley gets hit by a rookie that should be sent to prison after injuring the ALMIGHTY. Victorino is out because he was playing hard-nosed. Bourn is out because Wrigley Field hates the Phillies. And last but not least, Mr. Lohse. If I was a current member of the Phillies, I would refuse to play fearing for my life. It’s easier to deal with heartbreak when there is someone to blame. But who do we blame for this? At least now when the Phillies don’t make the playoffs, us fans will have a legit excuse.
I love Japan. Iguchi is an awesome player. I don’t want to say that the Phillies players are stupid, but I don’t see many of them turning into a future manager. Iguchi on the other hand really knows what he’s ding out there. Now if only he could learn English so he can teach all the other players how to be smart. Now how absurd is the idea of him being the starting 3rd baseman when Utley comes back? I really have no idea the answer to this question, but: How hard is it to move from 2nd base to 1st? And if he is in anyway against that move, I’m sure a few presidents could change him. I for one think that he is well worth the price.
Kyle Kendrick had his best start of the season in his last start. Oddly enough, the statistics for that game and the one other game that he went 7.0 innings are exactly alike. Hopefully he can help get this team off on a good foot against the Brewers. Most importantly, he must go deep into the game to save the bullpen after they were called upon so early in Thursday’s game. Coming off a not so hot start, Brewers’ Yovani Gallardo only went 5.0 innings giving up 4 runs. Gallardo is one to allow a few walks, so the Phillies batters must remember to stay patient and come through on their opportunities because this Brewers team really knows how to swing the bat.
Last start: ND / 5.0 / 4 ER / 4 H / 2 BB / 7 SO / St. Louis
Last words . . . I LOVE CHRIS COSTE!!!
