Flyers select James van Riemsdyk
With the 2nd overall pick the Flyers select……….James van Riemsdyk. Reemer, as his boys refer to him, was the 3rd overall rated prospect in the final North American skater rankings.

Reemer stands 6’3″ 200 pounds and GM Paul Holmgren compared his skills to John Leclair while doing an interview post-selection. He’s also a local boy, growing up in Middletown, New Jersey. Too bad he’s a Ranger fan.

You know, things are weird. The Flyers used to be my favorite Philadelphia sprots team but I didn’t even follow the draft this year. Says a lot, I think.
I used to watch every Flyers game. I think I might have watched five games in the entire 2006-2007 season. Again, says a lot.
Hopefully this new guy will inject some life into the team or maybe the young guys will mature this seasons.
Any thoughts one whether Riemsdyk is going to be a first year impact player or whether he’ll be down with the Phantoms?
looks like he will be finishing up college first. i’ve read he’s going to skate for university of new hampshire.
not all prospects start playing professionally right off the bat.
i guess we’ll see!
go flyers.
THIS KID IS NUTS. Wait and see what he has to offer. Like a xbox nuts!
Do not doubt James / local kid from the tri state area and hasn’t even played in a collage game. GOES #1 in the ’07 draft, you guys should be thankful.
Now I’m a flyer fan because of James!
