Guess who’s back, back again.
As soon as I think I’m out, they pull me back in. Talk about bi-polar.
I’m gonna die from a heart attack at age 20 due to the immense stress I receive from being a Phillies fan. Usually it just hurt because of how they lose: blowing leads late in the game or just getting completely blown out. Now it’s even worse. Monday I had officially given up on this team. I was still gonna watch the game, wear my Phillies hat everywhere I went, and still argue that they are better then any the teams my friends cheer for. But I knew they weren’t gonna make the playoffs. Even today, I still highly doubt they have the consistent play that will enable them to make it into the postseason. But when you see Lieber threw a beauty of a game like today, it’s hard not to believe in them. 3 hits, 11 K’s, 0 BB’s, now if you throw in the fact that it was against Kansas City, you kinda get brought down to earth. But keeping any team to 3 hits is an accomplishment. The most crucial part about tonight’s game was the fact that it was a complete game. WIth a VERY tired bullpen, eventually there was going to be a meltdown. That will be prevented as Lieber looked like his old self and Moyer is more then likely going to go 6 innings tomorrow.
I’d like to continue talking about tonight’s game as it was a nice win, but there is more important news . . . JOSE MESA IS BACK IN TOWN. When my dad first told me, I thought he was messing with me. This guy was soo hated in Philadelphia last year. Some of you may remember that last year, in the middle of the 1st inning at CBP, the players would be on the jumbotron and explain some of the conduct rules (no cursing, no running on the field, etc.). Of course, Mesa would be booed when he came on. The funny part is that his son (the bat boy) would also get booed. For one reason or another people didn’t like him. I always thought he did a great job. He has the record for most saves in a season, even though he did blow a lot in the process. I know he’s much older now and lost some of his skills, but an experienced guy who knows how to close is a great addition to this weak bullpen. This is a reach, but maybe Myers can come back to the rotation, WHERE HE BELONGS.
Last words . . . I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, Greg Dobbs is the shit.
