“Baby I was born to run.”
30 seconds after the double play, I get a phone call from my father asking, “where was he running to?”
Does anybody have the answer to that? Each game I am more and more amazed at how they find new ways to screw themselves over. Up until the 8th inning I had this blog all planned out in my head. I was gonna write about how the players showed no passion. But to my surprise, the 9th inning provided a heartbeat. But that heartbeat lasted as long as a Phillies record of .500.
The worst thing about being a Phillies fan is how they lose. I’d much rather be a Kansas City fan, I’d be able to go into the games knowing that I was just watching the game because I love baseball. But when I put on the Phillies game, I keep thinking to myself, “they’re gonna win today.” All I do is set myself up for failure.
If we could’ve skipped the 9th inning, it would’ve been an ok game with the Phillies just happening to be stuck facing a hall-of-famer. Even though Diamondback pitchers only threw 35 pitches today, the Phillies were just being aggressive. They were hitting the ball rather decently, just weren’t getting any breaks. But once you see that swinging early in the count isn’t working, why not start taking pitches? You know what, never mind. I don’t want those players to have to actually think, that would be asking too much of them. And God forbid Manuel start losing some logic. (It’s getting harder and harder to support him, even though today’s lose wasn’t his fault.)
There is some good news from this game. The Phillies only left 3 guys on base today. Needless to say, one of those runners got on via hit, another got on through an error, and the other by a walk. I really can’t talk much more about this game because nothing happened. An absolute bore of a game with a nice heart-crushing ending.
Last words . . . is Joe Girardi still looking for a job?

Joe Girardi is still looking for a job and he would never, ever come here.
