A Quick Hit

Anyone else wonder what the hell Charlie Manuel was doing last night, not getting anyone up in the bullpen as Tom Gordon did his best Jose Mesa impression?

Gordon relieves Moyer.

Batter #1 – Austin Kearns: Gordon promptly hits Kearns to load the sacks.

Batter #2 – Ryan Church: Church singles to left – 4-1, 0 outs

Batter #3 – Robert Fick: Sacrifice fly, 4-2, 1 out

Batter #4 – Brian Schneider: Ball, Ball, Ball, 3-0 count

This is where the camera panned to the Phillies empty bullpen. Charlie was playing Texas hold’ em, and he was all in, and let me tell you, it made me crazy.

Tom Gordon is definitely not comfortable throwing his breaking ball.

At age 44, Jaime Moyer’s jimmy may not work anymore, but his arm sure as hell does.

Editor’s note: Moyer has reported that his jimmy works just fine

ESPN.com’s mock NBA draft has the 76ers taking Acie Law XIXXIV with the 11th overall pick. I’d do that in a heartbeat.

Ray Didinger wants the Birds to go with Penn State LB Paul Posluszny in the 1st round and Rutgers RB/FB Brian Leonard in the 2nd round of next weekend’s draft. Personally, I’d avoid both of them.

No kidding. Talk about Ray Diddy setting the Birds up for more of the same…undersized with no upside. He should know better.
