Around the Papers
About 3 hours after I wrote that Jon Lieber shouldn’t get his knickers in a twist about the bullpen demotion, he getting promoted back to the starting rotation. Freddy Garcia has a tight right biceps it seems, and it doesn’t sound good.
_______
Todd Fedoruk got knocked the f out last night. Twenty-one seconds into the game.
Then he was taken out on a stretcher. That must be slightly embarrassing .
And…..goodnight.
In other Flyer related news, Paul Holmgren hasn’t ruled out trading the #1 overall pick if the Flyers win the NHL draft lottery.

Some people around here didn’t seem to like or get my Montae Reagor car accident jokes yesterday. That’s too bad. Even Les Bowen got in on the act with the title of his column today:
Grateful Reagor eyes bright future - Philadelphia Daily News
How does Reagor fit in? Here’s how I see it. Bunkley and Patterson are here. Walker is most likely here as well. Ramsey as a sixth round pick is totally expendable. Rayburn is totally expendable. Which leaves us with Darren Howard. Montae Reagor began his career as a defensive end who moved inside on passing downs, much like what Howard did last year for the Birds. However, Reagor has been primarily a DT since the 2000 season with the Denver Broncos. Word on the street though is that Reagor is a slimmed down 270, which of course is probably due to the fact that his face was collapsed 5 months ago.
So, what do the Eagles do? Does Reagor fill Howard’s role? Most likely not, since the cap hit for cutting Howard would be in excess of $4 million clams (if my sources are correct, and by sources I mean the internet). And due to the $2 million guaranteed of his contract, Reagor is not likely to be this season’s version of Jabar Gaffney or Ed Jasper.
Last year the Birds carried 5 ends, and 5 tackles when they broke camp:
DE
Jevon Kearse
Darren Howard
Trent Cole
Juqua Thomas
Jerome McDougle
DT
Mike Patterson
Darwin Walker
Brodrick Bunkley
Sam Rayburn
LaJuan Ramsey
This year?
DE
Jevon Kearse
Darren Howard
Trent Cole
Juqua Thomas
Draft Pick
DT
Mike Patterson
Darwin Walker
Brodrick Bunkley
Monte Reagor
Draft Pick or Ramsey

I have to give her credit, Ashley Fox of the Inquirer wrote a good article yesterday about the character of Andy Reid. Welcome back Andy.
_______
Good to see the Redskins traded Adam Archuleta one year after they made him the richest safety in the history of the NFL. By the way, Archuleta didn’t even start for the Redskins for half the year in 2006. Are these the type of moves you want the Eagles to make Angelo Cataldi and the Morning Team?
_______
So much for the Eagles getting Ole Miss LB Patrick Willis in the first round of next month’s draft. The 230 pound middle linebacker ran the 40 yard dash in 4.37 seconds at his pro day yesterday.
_______
Tony LaRussa can’t hold his drink. LaRussa was found last night asleep at a green light in Jupiter Florida. I guess police found it suspicious that an SUV went through 2 cycles of green lights without moving. LaRussa’s blood alcohol level had to be what? 0.15? 0.13? No, 0.93, not even illegal in many states.

Kissing Suzy Kolber has one of the best posts I’ve seen in a long time, and it has to do with the Family Circus comic strip. A taste:
