Feeley Inks New Deal

In a move that all but sums up that Jeff Garcia won’t be back next year, the Eagles ink A.J. Feeley to a new deal.

My opinion, bad move. Your opinion? That’s what the comment box is for.

My opinion? Good move. Feeley understands his role in the NFL at this point. I think it’s clear that Garcia still dreams of being a starter. He also probably expects to get rewarded for last season’s success.

And I think Feeley has what it takes to be a good backup QB.

Good Move! Feeley is the long term back-up. If they signed Garcia for two or three years Feeley would have went elsewhere when his deal expired next year. Feeley is the long term solution and could be Akers holder for the long term as well.

Feeley has proven that he can play in the Eagles system. When McNabb went down this year the fans wanted Feeley to play. Garcia was the right choice last year and he did a great job. Feeley is the best choice going forward.

I like the move. McNabb should be healthy enough to the be the starter at the beginning of the season. Now there won’t be a McNabb vs. Garcia QB controversey created by the media. Feeley is a good back up. He did well in his last stint with the Eagles. Signing Garcia wouldn’t fiscally make sense since the Eagles don’t have much cap room to work with and can use that money to secure other free agents.

Why not a good move, Gregory?

Garcia is 37 and gave the Eagles everything he had last year. Who’s to think that’s not JG blowing his last load? He took full advantage of the opportunity in front of him and he should be commended. And, he should also thank the Eagles organization for the audition, make money elsewhere and move on. Jeff, awesome job and thanks for making last season exciting. Best of wishes to wherever you land.

Feeley completely understands the role of a back-up quarterback. Why bring your franchise back from an injury, in this city especially, and have the media stir up “quarterback controversy” columns every day from the start of camp to the opening kick? Don’t argue that. You know that’s exactly what will happen.

Argue that AJ Feeley will never win the Eagles a Superbowl when DMac goes down again next season, but even with Jeff Garcia playing at his best in three years, at a ripe old age, he didn’t get it done either. And, next year, he’s a year older.

Let Garcia walk and play for a starting job next season. He deserves it. Bring him back and this city (media) rips right through the team ala 2005.
