Will Donte’ Stallworth Push the Eagles Into the Playoffs?
You know what? I think he will.
My previous analysis which explained five reasons why the Eagles won’t make the playoffs isn’t completely undermined, and still may hold true, but I think Stallworth brings an explosiveness to this offense that wouldn’t otherwise have been here.
Stallworth is on a whole different level than the other Eagles receivers. He requires special attention from opposing defenses. That means that opposing defenses will have to split their attention between D-Mac, B-West, and D-Stall. If C-Buck continues to impress as a strong back, then all of a sudden you have a 4 headed monster on offense. Prospects coming into the season were that you might have a 2 headed monster with McNabb and Westbrook. But with 4 attention demanding offensive players, and emerging stars in Brown, LJ Smith, this could turn into an explosive offense.
Stallworth will make opposing defenses open up. They won’t be able to send the corner or safety blitz as often. They won’t be able to rely on man to man coverage in the secondary. That’s a huge plus. It means one or two less guys keying on Westbrook. It means one less guy firing at McNabb.
My new prediction: Eagles make the playoffs at 10-6 and make a strong run at the Super Bowl. Stallworth is the perfect extra ingredient.

Why’s that the safe way? The team that the Eagles are putting out on the field has changed. So my prediction changes too.
Did you want me to be stubborn and ignore the fact that the Eagles picked up one of the top 25 receivers in the league?
I think Stallworth will give them at least one or two more wins. That means they’ll make the playoffs. That’s called logic.

i still think you suck, the eagles would have made the playoffs any way. if you read what you wrote you said that stallworth would give the eagles two more wins., which would put the eagles at 8-8 according to you so i still think you stink. so i still think you are taking the safe way out. what!!!!?!!!!!!

According to David, if you add to 2 wins to my original prediction (which was 9-7) you’d get 8-8.
So who’s the loser now? The guy who adds 9+2 and gets 8?
I’ve added 1 win to my original prediction to get 10-6. So I started at 9-7, I said Stallworth adds 1 or 2 wins, and I moved my prediction to 10-6.
