Exciting Finish to Season, Flyers to Face Sabres
With 27 possible playoff scenarios, the Flyers entered last night’s game with the Islanders with no clue who they would face a few days from now in the playoffs. They could win the Atlantic Division and take the 3 seed or stay as the 6th seed. Philly was down 1-0 going into the 3rd period, and they turned it on. Umberger got the scoring going with a nice shot under the glove of Garth Snow to put it to 1-1. Then Jeff Carter made a perfect breakaway move to put it to 2-1. With less than 2 minutes to go and Desjardins in the penalty box, Nedved poked the puck down the ice and Simon Gagne outraced 2 Islanders defenseman to score an empty net shorthanded goal. Handzus put the capper on the game with another empty net shorthanded goal.
So the Flyers won 4-2, while the Rangers were down 5-1 to Ottawa and Devils were down 3-1 to Montreal. Flyers win the Atlantic Division. Not so fast. Brian Gionta and Patrick Elias scored to tie the Devils game up at 3-3. And then with less than 3 minutes left, Jamie Langenbrunner scored to give the Atlantic Division title to Jersey. That’s also New Jersey’s 11th straight win (Good luck Rangers). So what does that mean for the Flyboys. They will face the 4 seed Buffalo Sabres in the First Round. This is a good matchup and it should be one hell of a series.

Sixers Notes:
The Sixers won a pointless game versus the Nets 91-88. I think 54 people attended the game and 31 watched it on Comcast. Iverson and Webber showed up late to the game and didn’t play at all. I mean who can blame them for not showing up on time to play for this mediocre team. They will be fined by the team but I’m sure they couldn’t care less.
As for the funniest moment of the night, I stumbled upon this gem on Ticketmaster. It just don’t get any funnier than that folks.
