March Madness – Day 3 Recap

The third day of the NCAA tournament began with Duke facing George Washington. Duke got solid play from both Shelden Williams and J.J. Redick as they came out with a 71-64 win.

The 2nd game of the day featured UW-Milwaukee taking on Florida. Florida clearly looked the better team all game and took Milwaukee out of the tournament by winning 82-60.

This phrase will be completely played out in the next few days, but the Wichita State Shockers shocked the Tennessee Volunteers. Wichita State took it to the number 2 seed and won 80-73 to advance to the Sweet 16.

5 seed Washington faced last year’s national runner-up, Illinois, and this game went right down to the wire with Illinois unable to hit a tying 3 as time expired.

Coming off their first round upset of Nevada, Montana took on Boston College. BC was simply too much for Montana to handle as BC rolled to a 69-56 victory.

Another 12 seed that pulled off an upset in the first round, Texas A&M, got matched up with the Tigers of LSU. LSU got the best of Texas A&M as they hit the game winning 3 pointer with seconds left which gave them the 58-57 win.

UCLA got a solid matchup with Alabama who was trying to upset the 2 seed to advance to the Sweet 16. UCLA was able to stave off Alabama’s attempt and won 62-59.

The last game of the day was Gonzaga versus Indiana. Adam Morrison didn’t play his best but his teammates helped carry the load and the team to the Sweet 16.
