Deep Sixers? Are you serious?
In his NY Daily News Article, Julian Garcia tells us that the Nets are now wary of deep Sixers. He doesn’t realy go on to defend this ridiculous claim, so we can’t really know what was going through his head. He mentions Kyle Korver. But Kyle Korver is a weak spot for the Sixers. He can’t play D. Garcia mentions the fact that AI consistently pours in 30 points a game. But that still doesn’t show us that the Sixers are deep. Finally, Garcia quotes a few Nets players such as Kidd and Carter indicating that their strategy is to shut down the “role” players since there is no way to completely shut down Iverson. But the Sixers role players aren’t that hard to shut down, and they certainly aren’t very deep.
Perhaps we’ll never know what Garcia had in mind when he referenced the Sixers as a “deep” team.
