The Three Sport Season
This is probably the greatest time of year for a Philadelphia Sports Fan. Football is in full swing. Hockey season has started (finally!) and now basketball is in preseason. It’s the three sport season. Eagles’ weekends with Sixers and Flyers games to fill in the gap during the week. Sports virtually every night (with variety).
Baseball season gets exciting in the last month. But really, we have to spend several months of the sports year with nothing but Phillies baseball. I love the Phils, but we really need to have some other sports to fill in during the summer duldrums.
I’m not sure if you’d say that we are in the golden age of Philadelphia sports, but we’re pretty damn close. We’ve got four teams that are playoff contenders each year, and two teams that have a virtual lock on moving deep into the playoffs. The Eagles and Flyers are top-notch teams. The Sixers will be fun to watch. The Phillies, well…
The October-January sweep is far and away the best period of time to be a Philadelphia Sports Fan and we’re just now entering the sweet spot. Let’s rejoice!
