Phillies Phire Ed Wade
The big news in Philly this week ain’t the Eagles. It’s the fact that the Phils ownership did the right thing and fired their crummy General Manager, Ed Wade. Wade had an abysmal tenure with the Phillies, not reaching the post season in 8 years. But even more telling were his horrible player management skills. He alienated (and lost) stars like Rolen and Schilling. He thinned out the farm system so bad that its borderline unrecoverable at this point. He hired a terrible manager in Charlie Manuel. He wasted money on Lieberthal. He set up the current Thome-Howard fiasco. The list could go on and on.
Now the Phils need to go out and get someone who knows how to manage a baseball franchise.
