Phillies Keep on Doing Their Thing
One thing’s for sure. You can’t phault the phighten’ phils.
They just got done winning their fourth straight series in a row. Two against the Braves and two against the Marlins. That’s how you win pennant chases.
In the final game of a three game series with the Braves, Lieber pitched a shutout, going 8 innings and giving up only 5 hits and 0 walks while stiking out 7. Rollins pushed his hitting streak to 27 games, going 2 for 5. And, as they seem to do so often these days, the Phillies pulled it out late in the game: the sign of clutch play. In fact, it was the clutch batting of two pinch hitters, Tucker and Victorino, that brought the Phils all 4 of their runs with two outs in the ninth.
What can we say. The Phils keep doing their thing. Right now, its gonna take a Houston cool-off for us to get that wildcard spot - let’s keep our fingers crossed.
