Three Receivers, Three Touchdowns
The Eagles first team looks better than they ever have in the preseason. Think about it. Preseason under Andy Reid has not been good. But the whole team looks like they’re in playoff form.
First play of the game and Owens redeems himself. There will be no more boos (unless of course Owens screws up;-) The Bengals had to be expecting it. What gives? Number 5 throws a 64 yard touchdown pass to T.O. No handshake, No congratulations. “Business as usual”.
Then, Owens caught four more passes for a total of 131 yards. Then Greg Lewis caught four passes for 72 yards and a brilliant one handed grab in the endzone. Then Reggie Brown scored on a short dump that required a precise running line to avoid the tackle.
The defense was stifling. They looked ready to be the premier D in the NFL this league. Dominating in all aspects. Or maybe it was the Bengals offense who sucked in all aspects. They were, after all, dropping wide open passes.
