The Buck Stops Here
As was expected, Correll Buckhalter is done for the season. For the second year in a row (and third of his career) Correll will not be playing football. This begs the question, will the once-promising young RB be forced to retire from the game?
Dave Spadaro breaks down the Eagles’ options rather well, but it primarily boils down to a wait and see situation. It is not entirely know what veteran backs may become available or if Bruce Perry will impress enough down the preseason to earn a roster position. And if all else fails, Dorsey Levens’ number is certainly on Andy Reid’s speed-dial.
But no matter how they patch the hole this season, it certainly appears that Buckhalter cannot be counted on for the future of the Eagles.

Damn. Damn. Damn.
I was confident the Eagles could win the SB this year…until injuries starting showing their faces. I just didn’t expect to lose Buck and Pinkie. Now I’m depressed.
I think Pinkston is by far the bigger problem. As much as I hoped Buck would be back this year, the lack of a big RB didn’t hurt us - it was the lack of running that hurt us. I still think if we had given Levens the ball more in the SB we’d by the champs right now.
Thom,
I agree. But I was sooo looking forward to the possibility of the Eagles adding a new dimension to their offense: straight up running.
Here’s how I see things: Pinkston is really good, but the Eagles pass offense functions well by distributing the ball all over the place. This buffers the effect of losing one guy.
On the other hand, the potential value of adding another dimension to an already explosive offense really appealed to me. If the Eagles could run the ball straight up the middle, then the linebackers on opposing teams would have to pay more attention to the middle gaps, and our TEs might get some more breathing room…
