Sports… the Philadelphia way

An Eye on the Eastern Conference

As things stand, the Sixers would be playing Miami in the first round. They are 2.5 games out of the 7th position and only 3 games out of the Atlantic Division with another game against Boston (the current division leaders). It is critical that the Sixers avoid a Miami match-up in the first round if they have any hope of advancing. Meeting Miami later on in the playoffs would not be as bad – the Sixers will have had further time to develop as a team (hopefully developing some good chemistry between Iverson and Webber). The best scenario, would be for the Sixers to win the division over Boston. This would give them an Indiana or Chicago match-up in the first round (instead of either Detroit or Miami). The most likely worst-case scenario (with a silver lining) would be for the currently hot Nets to knock the Sixers out of the playoffs all together. This of course would be disappointing, but the Sixers *would* get a high draft pick.

1. Miami 55-19 (Southest Division Leader)
2. Detroit 46-27 (Central Division Leader)
3. Boston 39-34 (Atlantic Division Leader)
4. Chicago 41-31
5. Washington 41-31
6. Indiana 38-34
7. Cleveland 38-34
8. Philadelphia 36-37
